"Migration is the talk of the town": Multidisciplinary Approaches to Migration History
DOI:

To begin with, the editors of Migration History in World History note that "Migration is the talk of town." They are compelled to conclude that "So far, however, the work by migration historians has not really influenced the current debate" (p. 3 f.). To change the status quo and to enhance the position of academic research, the editors argue for an inclusion of multidisciplinary perspectives into the field of migration history. Accordingly, the various essays in this volume illustrate the potential of linguistic, archeological, biological, and cultural-anthropological approaches for studies of migration history without denying the risks of multidisciplinary entanglement, such as the rise of new forms of racism.
