The 125-page volume Superhelden zwischen Comic und Film (Superheroes Between Comic and Film) is the sixth in a series of critical film studies from e t+k which is edited by Thomas Koebner and Fabienne Liptay. Preceding the seven essays is an introduction by the volume's co-editors, Andreas Friedrich and Andreas Rauscher, which conceptualises the comic as a literary genre complete with date of origin. The purpose of the volume is twofold: to provide an overview of the most important comic heroes and their film adaptations from Hollywood, Hong Kong, and Japan, but also to encourage further study of the comic genre, an area that German film and cultural studies has largely neglected.
