Die Künste und Kunstwissenschaften in der DDR waren weitgehend politisch-ideologischen Maßstäben unterworfen. Der zweite Band aus der Reihe "KlangZeiten - Musik, Politik und Gesellschaft" widmet sich der Frage, wie künstlerische Werke verschiedener Disziplinen unter den Bedingungen einer Diktatur entstanden und ob diese Bedingungen für alle Künste vergleichbar sind.
Zur Klärung dieser Frage werden in den zwölf Aufsätzen Beispiele aus den Bereichen Literatur, bildende Kunst, Film und Musik vorgestellt und untersucht, sowie die jeweiligen Wissenschaften in den Blick genommen.
