Abstract

The review examines the work Old Ice and Us by the artist and cultural scholar Judith Neunhäuserer. Through interviews and diary entries, she reflects on the experiences of an expedition to the Arctic. Drawing on Hans Blumenberg’s metaphor of shipwreck, the article shows how, in the context of climate change, traditional distinctions between subject and world begin to dissolve. Community thus emerges as a fragile yet central mode of human existence in a time of crisis.
